The Roof of Odisha
Deomali is the highest peak in Odisha, standing tall at 1,672 metres above sea level. Located in the Eastern Ghats range within the Koraput district, Deomali offers one of the most spectacular sunrise experiences in all of Eastern India.
The popular trek to the peak begins before dawn. As you ascend through misty forests and tribal villages, you arrive at the summit just as the sun begins to rise. On clear days, the view is nothing short of breathtaking - the sea of clouds below you, the golden light painting the hills, and the stillness of the early morning create an almost spiritual experience.
The entire region is home to tribal communities who have lived in harmony with these forests for centuries. Along the trek route, you will pass through villages where you can see traditional Koraput tribal life up close.
